The Peace Sign is over 50 years old… but going strong!
The
original Peace Symbol can be traced by to Gerald Holtom, who was a textile designer
from London. Holtom’s image combined the semaphore signals for the letters N, for
nuclear (the figure with arms held downward and out from both sides), PLUS the
D for disarmament (the figure holding one arm above its head while the other
points to the ground).
